Understand the format
A numbered die has individual face values. A result can describe a face, a total or a combination, so the visible dice count matters.
What to read on the screen
Identify whether the current format uses one, two or more dice. The range of possible totals changes with that count. Selection labels and settlement rules should be read in the game rather than inferred from a generic dice icon.
A worked reading example
Two ordinary six-sided dice can total from 2 to 12. 2 + 5 and 3 + 4 both total 7, although their individual faces differ.
A useful question to ask
What should I check before using another version’s rules?+
Check the full game name, selected variant and active help screen. The example above explains a format; it does not replace your room’s rules, controls or settlement conditions.
