Understand the format
In a matching-tile format, a tile connects to an exposed end carrying the same pip value. Doubles have identical values on their two halves.
What to read on the screen
Look at both playable ends rather than only your highest-value tile. Some variants ask you to draw when blocked, while others use a pass. Scoring and the number of tiles dealt depend on the variant.
A worked reading example
With an open 4 at one end, 4–2 can connect there; 5–2 cannot connect to that 4. The other end of the layout may still offer a legal place.
A useful question to ask
What should I check before using another version’s rules?+
Check the full game name, selected variant and active help screen. The example above explains a format; it does not replace your room’s rules, controls or settlement conditions.
Examples are illustrations, not live round results. Previous outcomes do not guarantee the next result. Keep personal limits on time and spending.
